Lucy Defeeted | Yuri Shambhu Nezovic, 2008

“Manic machines forcefully enclosed by the hide and lace of their masters liking. Knuckled and nailed, with the occasional tuft. Hiding foul smelling secrets between digits with enough power to strip paint if exhausted. Guiding the travelers fall while riding the hypnotic, unavoidable pull of gravity. Suspended momentarily, then forced face down into the ground by the weight of their own reliance. Subjected to constant battering and humiliation…”

“Bullshit!” her feet cried in unison.

Lucy tore the page out of her notebook and used it to clear both her nostrils. She stared down at her podiatric critics in disgust.

“Inane drivel” said her left, “We’re not subject to the whims and desires of your fruitful fancies. We’re feet, sir, and like it or not your balance position and direction in this world is solely, excuse the pun, our prerogative!”

Lucy replied with the tired old argument that she, as the person to whom the feet belonged, decides when and where she wants to move.

“But we decide to let you, sir” barked her right foot, “And when your decisions and motives are inadequate, we attack. A full forced kamikaze run into the nearest hard object. A sore foot and a subtly bruised ego helps one toe the line, so to speak”.

Fed up with the absurdity of the situation Lucy went to stand but a sudden defiant sitting stance forced her to fall face first onto the floor bashing her head, and she groaned at his painful lack of control.

“Your ours now, sir” the left hissed, and split open lengthwise to reveal a horrid set of dirty jagged teeth, “and we hate you!” Lucy’s left foot bit through her right ankle with sickening speed and pain.

“I’m free!” squealed the right and dividing herself likewise began to slowly gnaw at her masters left ankle so viciously Lucy was paralyzed with nauseating pain. The right foot took its time. Savoring every bite and gargling with glee.

The left finally severed, joined her sister on the chest of their now fallen oppressor. Blood gushing from her two torn appendages and too overcome with fear and pain to think let alone moved, Lucy began to gag and choke on her own vomit. Crying, as 10 toes of evil began to devour her body piece by piece “I fucking hate my feet”.
